The besseggen hike - a grandois adventure!

The Besseggen hike is the most used and well-known trips in Jotunheimen and it's guaranteed to give you a magnificient experience. From Gjendesheim it's a 750 m climb up to Veslfjellet.

This part of the hike is prefferred to walk slowly. Not only because it's a little steep, but also to take your time and enjoy the fantastic view. The path along Veslfjellet is easy to find, as many thousand feet walks this path every summer.

From Gjendesheim you can take the boat to Gjendebu and walk the Bukkelægeret to Memurubu. After a good night's sleep in Memurubu you can face the challenge of Besseggen.

If you care for an easier second day, you could walk along the Gjende lake to Gjendesheim. This idyllic trip has as much to offer as the two mentioned trips, espescially if you are interested in flowers and fauna. Under the walls of Besseggen the temperature is almost "tropical" compared to the surrounding area. This makes it the perfect trip in bad weather.

Every Sunday you could join the "Jo-stigen" walk. We follow in the trails of Jo Gjende, first along the Gjende lake before we turn to a lesser used trail. This trail ends in the middle of Besseggen.
