Memurubu - a modern muintain lodge in the heart of Jotunheimen
|Memurubu Turisthytte is one of the finest in Jotunheimens. When the newest building was completed in 1993, we could offer more accomodations and modern facilities. Memurubu originates from an over hundred years old mountain farm. Even though there is no farming here now, cows still wander around here, relaxing and grazing.
Tourists have visited Memurubu since it was used as a mountain farm, and there are plenty of ancient history and traditions here. The old mountain lodge was unfortunately ruined in a fire in 1998, but is since rebuild.
Our location at the bottom of the Memuru valley, near the beautiful Gjende lake provides us with a warm and sheltered climate. Memurubu Turisthytte is situated right between Gjendesheim and Gjendbu, with Besseggen and Bukkelægret on each respective side. Both are of the most used mountain trips in Norway. Memurubu is a perfect base for many wonderful trips in Jotunheimen's magnificent nature.
Memurubu Turisthytte welcomes regular guests as well as guests and travellers passing by, and we have our own space for tents. We produce our own environmental friendly electrical power from our local hydroelectric power plant.
The summer season 2011 lasts from June 17. to September 18.
Memurubu Turisthytte is well known for its nice enviroment and our good food.
There are plenty of opportunities for fishing, rent a boat, and other recreational activities.
